Assam STF Arrests Top ISIS Operatives Crossing Into Assam From Bangladesh

GUWAHATI: In a significant breakthrough, Assam Police's Special Task Force (STF) apprehended two high-profile ISIS operatives, who were wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), as they entered Assam through Dhubri from neighbouring Bangladesh.

According to STF sources, intelligence agencies had earlier alerted about the presence of two senior ISIS leaders in a neighbouring country, planning to enter India via the Dhubri sector for sabotage activities. Acting on this tip-off, an STF team led by Parthasarathi Mahanta, IGP (STF), and Kalyan Kumar Pathak, Additional SP, STF, launched an operation to capture the duo. The team headed to Dhubri on Tuesday evening.
