Assam State Zoo to Reopen for Visitors on December 1, SOP Provided

GUWAHATI: The Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, Guwahati will reopen for visitors on 1st December.


Visitors will be allowed entry in a staggered manner. Entry will be allowed in two-time slots, one between 8 am to 11 am, and the other between 1 pm to 4 pm. Each slot will have a limit of a maximum of 450 visitors on any given day until further orders.


However, all 450 visitors will not be allowed at once. Instead, only 150 visitors will be allowed to enter the zoo per hour. Visitors will be allowed a maximum time of two hours to spend inside the zoo. Anybody wishing to stay for over two hours must take prior permission from the zoo authority.

Bookings will be done online through ORCS. Booking personnel will be present at the gate to assist with the ticket booking process. No cash payment will be accepted by hand. Instead, people who do not have e-payment methods will have to deposit the exact fee amount in a drop-box.


All visitors should compulsorily wear a mask. Hand sanitizers and a foot bath will be provided at the zoo's entrance. 


Further, the battery-operated vehicles that operate inside the zoo will ply with only one visitor in one row. Visitors will not be allowed to congregate at the viewpoint of animal closure.


Rs 500 fine will be imposed on visitors who cross over the stand-off barrier.


No food will be allowed inside the zoo as visitors will be allowed to carry only a water bottle of 1 to 2 litres each. All commercial establishments like restaurants, juice shops, etc inside the zoo premises will continue to remain closed until further orders.


Persons above 65 yrs of age, persons with co-morbidities, symptoms, children below 10 yrs and pregnant women will not be allowed entry.
