GUWAHATI: Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden in Guwahati is set to undergo a massive revamp to transform into India's premier destination for wildlife enthusiasts. The announcement was made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who took to Twitter to share the news.
Chief Minister Sarma tweeted, "Guwahati Zoo is set to become India's premier destination for wildlife enthusiasts. With an incredible array of flora and fauna, we're on a mission to transform it into the country's finest zoo." This declaration showcases the government's commitment to enhancing the zoo's facilities and overall experience.
To ensure the successful redevelopment of Assam State Zoo, the state government has assembled a team of experts who extensively researched the best zoos in India. Their findings and recommendations will guide the revitalisation process, aiming to bring the zoo up to international standards.
One of the key aspects of the renovation plan is the establishment of a theme-based park within the zoo premises. This park will feature proper zonation and a range of amenities to provide an immersive and enjoyable experience for visitors. Additionally, the enclosures will be redesigned to prioritise the comfort and well-being of the animals, making them more animal-friendly.
Recognising the importance of veterinary care, the renovated zoo will include a full-fledged veterinary centre dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and treatment of animals. This facility will ensure that the zoo's inhabitants receive the highest quality care.
A senior zoo official, speaking to G Plus, expressed optimism about the project, stating, "The construction will start very soon."
"The concept plan of the project is planned by the public works department," the senior zoo official added.
