Assam State Secretariat Functioning with Skeletal Staff Post Detection of COVID+ Cases

GUWAHATI: With the rapid rise in the number of people infected with the COVID-19 virus, a section of top bureaucrats of the state have also tested positive.

According to reports, those who tested positive are SS Meenakshi Sundaram, Commissioner and Secretary (Industries department), PR Khaund, Secretary (Industries department/Transport), Oinam Saran Singh, Managing Director, AIDC and Isan Bardalai, Additional Secretary (Industries).

Besides them, Rajibuddin Ahmed, PS to Principal Secretary, CM Secretariat has also tested positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, Janata Bhawan has been completely sanitized while entry of visitors has been totally prohibited.

Currently, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) related with COVID-19 is being followed and the State Secretariat is functioning with skeletal staff.

Kamrup (Metro) happens to be the worst affected district in the state and is the new COVID-19 hotspot of the region with over 75 percent of the active cases in Assam from the district.
