GUWAHATI: Agia Police arrested one Bapon Nath for allegedly abetting suicide of minor in Goalpara District, Assam on August 17.
The teacher identified as Bapon Nath has been apprehended from Sonapur area near Guwahati when he was trying to leave Assam.
Bapon Nath who is a teacher at Sakardev Shishu Vidya Niketan in Lower Assam's Goalpara district was absconding since the suicide of a girl student and was hiding at in a cement factory at Khanapara.

According to reports, a Class X girl student committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence after her ‘relationship’ with the teacher was caught by her mother during a conversation with him through a mobile phone.
It is to be mentioned that the mobile phone was allegedly provided to the girl by the teacher.
Umacharan Ray, Officer-in-Charge of Agia police station speaking to media said that the accused has confessed of having a physical relationship with the deceased and has been charged under sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.
Notably, several organisations including the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) have congratulated the police for the arrest and have demanded rigorous punishment.
