Assam's Kamal Das to be Conferred with National Bravery Award on R-Day

GUWAHATI: Assam’s Kamal Das who hails from North Guwahati will be conferred with ICCW (Indian Council for Child Welfare) National Bravery Awards.

It is to be mentioned that Kamal, showed exemplary courage by risking his life thrice, and managed to save his mother and aunt after a ferry boat capsized in Brahmaputra River near Aswaklanta Temple.

Kamal was travelling on the ill-fated boat with his mother and aunt when the unfortunate incident happened. Reportedly, Kamal's mother and aunt did not know how to swim. The boy, within a few minutes of the accident, dived into the water to save them fearlessly.

It is to be mentioned that along with Kamal, five other children from Northeast have been selected for National Bravery Award.

The six awardees include Assam’s Kamal Das, Meghalaya’s Everbloom K. Nongrum and Manipur’s Lourembam Yaikhomba Mangang. The other three children, who have been selected for the prestigious award, include Lalliansanga, Carolyn Malsawmtluangi and Vanlalhriatrenga from Mizoram.
