Assam's Fisherman Released from Pakistan Jail after One Year

GUWAHATI: After more than one year of imprisonment in a Pakistani jail, Assam's Simanta Saikia, a resident of Merapani under Golaghat district is all set to return home.

According to reports, on January 5, Pakistan released 20 Indian fishermen including Assam’s Simanta who were arrested by the Maritime Security Agency for allegedly violating Pakistani territorial waters on October 28, 2018.

All the arrested fishermen were working for a Gujrat-based company and was lodged in Malir district jail in Lahore.
