GUWAHATI: 696 new COVID-19 cases were detected in Assam on July 8 of which 423 were from Guwahati city alone.
With this, the COVID-19 count in the state now stands at 14,032. While 8,726 patients have recovered, currently there are 5,281 active COVID-19 cases in the state.

Meanwhile, due to the surge in positive cases, health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged the citizens to follow the precautionary guidelines strictly.
Till now, the pandemic has claimed the lives of 22 patients, including six on July 8 while 3 cases had migrated from the state long back.
