Assam Rifles Destroys Opium Cultivation Worth ₹1.03 Crore In Manipur

On Thursday, the Srikona Battalion of Headquarter 21 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles(East), destroyed large-scale cultivation of poppy plants at Kaimai village hills in Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district in Manipur.

Based on the input received about the large-scale plantation of poppy plants cultivation in the hill ranges of Kaimai village, a joint Operation was launched by the Srikona Battalion of Assam Rifles along with Manipur police from Tousem Police Station and forest department officials. 

The party destroyed approximately 4.2 Lakh poppy plants. The poppy plants were planted on about 21 acres of forestland worth approximately ₹1.03 crores.

Manipur police are investigating further details.
