GUWAHATI: The Kalimpong Police have taken into custody an individual hailing from Assam on Tuesday, who, from the confines of Arunachal Pradesh reportedly fabricated a fictitious Facebook profile of a Kalimpong local, instigating harassment towards young women.
As per reports, 28-year-old Amit Ray, a native of Sakomura village located in Assam's Bongaigaon district, was apprehended after creating a fraudulent Facebook account impersonating James Dendi Molomu, a Kalimpong resident.
"The true offender behind the counterfeit James Dendi Molomu Facebook account, which had been tormenting individuals from Kalimpong and Sikkim since July, has been apprehended in Arunachal Pradesh by the Kalimpong Cyber Police Station team," as stated by Aparajita Rai, the Superintendent of Police in Kalimpong as per reports.
The arrest of Ray transpired on Sunday in the remote village of Sangram within Arunachal Pradesh.
