Assam Reports Sudden Spike of 3,644 New COVID-19 Cases

Assam recorded 3,644 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, September 28. The cases were detected from all across the state, out of 1,20,156 COVID tests conducted. This was informed by the Health Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma.


This comes after the Assam government planned to conduct random 1 lakh COVID -19 tests per day across Guwahati from 28th to 30th of September amid rising cases. As such 563 cases have been recorded in Kamrup (M).


Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Sarma wrote, "Alert ~ 3644 #COVID cases detected today out of 120156 tests." 


The positivity rate for the infection is 3.03%. 


With this, the total number of COVID cases in Assam has gone up to 1,73,629.
 

Further, with 2,320 patients discharged from various hospitals within the last 24 hours, active cases in Assam stands at 30,662 while 1,42,297 persons have been cured of the virus. 


The COVID-19 death toll in Assam stands at 667.
