GUWAHATI: The reopening of Kaziranga National Park for tourists has been postponed until further notice.

The park was set to reopen on October 1, 2019 but maintenance of the park is still underway after being devastated by the ravaging floods earlier this year where more than 90 percent of the park’s area was submerged underwater and over 100 animals lost their lives.

Famous for its one-horned rhinos, Kaziranga is a UNESCO world heritage site. It has a large breeding population of elephants, tigers, wild water buffaloes and swamp deer.

After being established in 1905 as a reserve forest, the park has also been a theme of numerous books, poems and documentaries.
