Gunotsav is an initiative aimed at improving the quality of education in schools. It evaluates institutions based on four key parameters; community participation and contribution, co-scholastic and other areas, scholastic (learning outcomes), and availability and use of infrastructure.

The assessment covers students from Classes 1 to 10 in government and provincialised schools, along with Adarsha Vidyalayas, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), Tea Garden Management Schools, and Tea Garden Model Schools.

Schools are graded on a scale of A+, A, B, C, and D, with the evaluation giving 90% weightage to scholastic performance, while co-scholastic areas and community participation contribute 5% each.
