Assam ranks 27th among 29 states in overall development in India: NITI Aayog reports

GUWAHATI: Assam has ranked 27th among 29 states of the country in terms of overall development, according to a report published by NITI Aayog recently. 

According to the report, development in the state in many fields such as health, poverty eradication, power education, gender equality, sanitation, water supply, economic growth etc. is not satisfactory.

The only states that ranked below Assam include Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, while Himachal Pradesh topped the list in terms of all-round development. 

From the northeast region, only Manipur and Mizoram managed a decent position in the list, ranking 12th and 13th respectively.
