Assam Raises Share Capital To ₹6,000 Crore For Power Sector

 

The increased investment has been initiated to modernise and expand Assam’s energy generation capabilities, while bolstering the state’s power infrastructure as a whole

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has increased the state’s share capital for the Assam Power Generation Company Limited (APGCL) from ₹3,000 crore to ₹6,000 crore.

This decision was revealed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma following a state cabinet meeting which was held on Thursday, January 16.

The increased investment has been initiated to modernise and expand Assam’s energy generation capabilities, while bolstering the state’s power infrastructure as a whole.

Other decisions taken in the cabinet meeting was the allotment of ₹401.50 crore for projects spanning the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and the introduction of guidelines for Angadwadi Centre Management Committees across the state.
