Assam: Protest Erupts At Railway Station In Dhubri Over Discontinuation Of Train

GUWAHATI: A mass protest unfolded at Agomoni Railway Station in Dhubri district on Sunday, as hundreds of demonstrators, including members of various organisations such as AASU, AKRASU, Garia Mariya Deshi, and others, gathered to voice their grievances over the discontinuation of a train.

The protesters vehemently demanded the resumption of the New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati train stoppage at Agomoni Railway Station, which had been discontinued by the railway department.

Additionally, they called for the construction of a road through the railway line, aiming to enhance public accessibility in the Agomoni area.

Furthermore, the protesters highlighted their prolonged wait for the construction of a road under the railway bridge at three designated locations, a project that had previously received approval from the railway department.

While speaking to G Plus, a senior official from the Northeast Railways stated that the protestors submitted a memorandum to the Railway Department regarding their demands.
