GUWAHATI: A senior professor of Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jyoti Kr Gogoi, was suspended for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl student of the university.
A student of the college had lodged a complaint with the sexual harassment committee of the university that the professor sexually assaulted the female student at his office room in the Jorhat campus on Friday, September 6.

Following which, the acting vice chancellor, Ashok Bhattacharyya said that the decision to suspend the senior professor was taken by the statutory body as such charges are taken seriously and the matter would be forwarded to the internal complaints committee of the university.
Gogoi is a professor in the Economics and Farm Management departments in the city.
