Assam: Popular Civil Servant Dies After Complaining of Abdomen Pain

GUWAHATI: A popular civil servant of Assam died on Tuesday, December 15 after complaining of pain in the abdomen.

Ahongbam Bemthoi Chanu of the Assam Civil Service (ACS) who was posted at the Bokajan Subdivision of the Karbi Anglong district as a Magistrate has passed away. 


A family member confirmed the development to G Plus. "She complained of abdomen pain intitially and was just talking to me. But she had to be hospitalised where her situation deterioted. The doctors have now told us that she died from multiple organ failure," said her sister.


Following her weakening condition, it was decided by her kin to take her to Chennai for further treatment via air ambulance. But before she could be airlifted, Chanu breathed her last.


Chanu is an ACS from the 2016 batch and is widely renowned for her efficient work in the state machinery. She was posted as Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate at Bokajan Sub Division, Karbi Anglong.  


Her batchmates and other government officials have expressed their condolences at the loss. "She was a people-friendly bureaucrat and really popular for her work," Bipanchi Dutta, ACS, told G Plus.
