Assam: Political Drifting to BJP Continues

GUWAHATI: A host of leaders have joined the saffron ranks ahead of the upcoming Assam legislative assembly elections.

The leaders include Congress vice president and former media department chairman Bhagirath Karan and Congress's former spokesperson Akshay Rajkhowa.

Few of the youth organizations too have joined the saffron ranks including a senior leader of Assam Tea Tribes Student Association. Among the non-political inclusions are artist Arjun Sahu, former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Shayamal Saikia, retired engineer Utpal Kumar Saikia, Gosaigaon Marwari Youth Moncha President, Jethmal Mallu, Land Security Committee President and Cobra Militant Founder Ganesh Murm.

This comes after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ramped up its election preparedness with a new office at Ganeshguri.

"The strength of the party lies in our karyakartas. Therefore it is our priority to provide them all the necessities," stated Ranjeet Kumar Dass, State President of BJP.
