Assam Police to Take Custody of Sharjeel Iman

GUWAHATI: Shaheen Bagh protester Sharjeel Iman who made derogatory statements against Assam will be taken into custody by Assam Police on February 6.

According to reports, a team of Assam Police under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police, Nabaneet Mahanta has left for Delhi to take Iman into custody.

Earlier on January 28, Iman was arrested from Bihar will said to be produced at a court following which Assam police will take him into its custody.

Sharjeel Imam, an activist, has been booked under several cases for allegedly delivering inflammatory speeches against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC). 

Imam had done his Masters from IIT-Mumbai before joining JNU to pursue his Ph. D in Historical Studies.
