Assam Police Seize Fake Currency Printing Machine In Nagaon, 3 Arrested

GUWAHATI: The Assam Police on Thursday, September 8, seized one Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) making machine, counterfeited currency notes, and arrested three persons in connection to the bust in two separate operations in Nagaon district.

Based on secret information, a team of police personnel from Kachua Police Station in Nagaon district launched an operation.

During the operation, the police recovered and seized one FICN-making machine, 103 FICN of Rs 500 denomination, six Rs 500 notes, one bundle of A4 size paper, one motorcycle, and three mobile phone handsets from the area.

The three arrested persons are Jalal Uddin (35 years old) from Hatikhuti, Kachua, R. Vanlalruati (42 years old) and Zoramchhani (40 years old), both from Ramhlum, Vengthar II, Aizawl of Mizoram.

G Plus spoke to the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kachua Police Station, who explained that the scammers used to tell their victims that they could double the amount of money by printing fake currency. “Most of the currency seized was printed only on one side. We doubt they were capable of counterfeiting currency. But, they did use to show people that they could replicate currency notes through their fake currency minting machine but in reality, they used to give out real money to the victims. Once they spend the money and start believing in the scam, the scammers promise to double their money. Like, if you pay them 1 lakh rupees, they will give 2 lakh in return. There are other perpetrators involved in the case, we are investigating, and we will file a charge sheet soon.” The OC also said that the arrested persons were presented before district court late on Thursday.
