GUWAHATI: At a time when unemployment has turned out to be a major concern in the state, as many as 4,356 different posts are vacant in the Assam Police department. 788 more vacancies are available in the Guwahati Police Commissionerate alone.
The data was provided by Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary, in response to a question from AIUDF MLA Rafiqul Islam, reported media.
Of the available 788 posts, 67 are of sub-inspector, 2011 posts of head constable, 11 of assistant sub-inspector, 7 posts of naik, 659 of constable and 24 of woman police constable, in the city police commissionerate.
Additionally, posts of 6 inspectors, 466 sub-inspector, 263 assistant sub-inspector, 186 head constable, 147 naik, 3111 constable and 177 posts of women police constables are lying vacant in the different police stations and outposts of the state.
