Assam Police Celebrates Child Rights Week With ‘Dhing Express’ Hima Das

GUWAHATI: As a significant part of the week-long Child Rights Week celebrations orchestrated by the Assam Police, the internationally acclaimed athlete from Assam, popularly known as “Dhing Express,” Hima Das, engaged in an interactive session with children from various children's homes and communities. The session covered a spectrum of topics centred around child rights and child protection.

Sharing insights from her own life journey, Das emphasised the importance of nurturing ambitious dreams and exerting effort to achieve them. She remarked, "It is important for children to have big dreams and work hard to be able to achieve them. The Government and civil society have to be able to collectively provide all forms of support so that children can always remain motivated and encouraged."

The event featured a question and answer session and lively singing and dancing activities with the children. Notable attendees at the interactive programme included senior officers from Assam Police as well as representatives from UNICEF and UTSAH.

The ongoing Child Rights Week celebrations, launched on November 14, are slated to continue until World Children's Day on November 20, 2023. These celebrations are integral to the award-winning Sishu Mitra Programme, a collaborative initiative between Assam Police, UNICEF, and UTSAH, aimed at ensuring the well-being and rights of children.
