GUWAHATI: The Assam Petroleum Mazdoor Union decides to stop the supply of Petroleum products, as said in a notification released on November 23, 2022. This comes in the wake of the recent Assam-Meghalaya clash that took place on November 22.
In the notification by the union, it stated that the members of the union are afraid to travel towards the Khasi Hills and will stop going until and unless the Government of Meghalaya assures their safety and security. In case of any incidents, it demands that Meghalaya must own responsibility.
The notification read, “It has been brought to our notice that in Meghalaya mainly Rebhoi, Khasi Hills, and Jaintia Hills Districts there is an abnormal situation lurking. Our members are afraid to go to the above-mentioned areas for supplying Petroleum Products. In this situation, there is a need for safety and security first. Therefore, we have decided not to take any load from today onwards until and unless the Government of Meghalaya assure us safety and security of T/T crews (Oil and Gas), and if any incident occurs Meghalaya Government will take responsibility.”
