Assam: Over 12,000 Kg Of Burmese Supari Seized By Hailakandi Police

 

GUWAHATI: In a recent operation based on credible sources, a team from the Katlicherra Police Station in Hailakandi took action by conducting a search at the residence of Kazi Azizur Rehma today, located in Dolai Molai Part 10. The operation yielded a substantial discovery as they managed to recover and seize a total of 168 sacks of Burmese supari. The combined weight of this seized contraband amounted to approximately 10,080 kilograms.

Simultaneously, another discovery was made when, acting on source information, the Officer-in-Charge of Katlicherra Police Station, along with other police personnel, identified an abandoned vehicle, an Intra van. The vehicle was located at Baruncherra Losai Basti and was found loaded with 40 sacks of Burmese supari. The weight of this additional seizure was estimated at roughly 2,400 kilograms.

These operations by Hailakandi police will go some way in curbing the illegal trade of Burmese supari in the region.
