GUWAHATI: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced that a new bridge connecting Palashbari-Sualkuchi over the Brahmaputra will be constructed during her one-day visit to Assam on October 7.
A financial outlay of Rs 3094 crore has been announced for the proposed bridge over the river Brahmaputra which will connect Palashbari on the South bank with Sualkuchi on the North bank.

The project was first announced in the State Budget of 2017-2018, along with the currently under-construction bridge from Bharalumukh to North Guwahati.

She further added that in the last four months the infrastructure projects have received a renewed push to expedite the rate of development of the State.
The Minister also added that the way Assam is going forward in planning and executing different externally aided projects, the State will definitely set a precedent in catching up with other advanced states of the country.
