Modern Working Women's Hostel To Come Up in Semiconductor Plant Township In Assam's Jagiroad

 

GUWAHATI: Working women’s hostel is set to be constructed in Jagiroad as part of the township project for the upcoming semiconductor plant. The hostel, expected to accommodate around 800-900 women workers, aims to provide safe and well-equipped living spaces for female employees.

Talking to GPlus, an official from the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) said, “The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is ready, and the construction work will start very soon. The project has already been approved by the government.”

He also added, "The working women’s hostel in Jagiroad will be developed with modern facilities, keeping in mind the convenience and safety of its residents. Several key aspects have been taken into account while designing the hostel structure. The facilities will include modern sanitation systems, including a designated “pink chute” for menstrual hygiene disposal. The following amenities will be available on each floor: 

* Launderette 

* Pantry 

* Janitor room 

* Solid waste collection and segregation areas

Additionally, separate rooms will be allocated for mothers with children, ensuring their specific needs are met. Each room will provide approximately 90 square feet of space per occupant.

The GMDA official also added, "Security measures will also be in place to ensure that maintenance staff can work without intruding on personal spaces."
