GUWAHATI: In a recent announcement, the Divisional Forest Officer of Western Assam Wildlife Division and Field Director of Nameri Tiger Reserve, Piraisoodan B. (IFS), declared the reopening of the renowned Nameri National Park and Tiger Reserve for the upcoming tourist season, starting from October 20, 2023. The reopening is in compliance with the relevant provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and the Assam Wildlife (Protection) Rules, 1997.
Tourists eager to explore the natural wonders of the park will be able to indulge in rafting activities immediately. However, due to current road conditions, trekking activities are scheduled to commence from November 1, 2023.
It's important to note that, in adherence to directives from the Indian Government, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and the National Tiger Conservation Authority, trekking activities will be temporarily closed for visitors on Tuesdays of every week.
