GUWAHATI: Two people, including a child, were killed on the spot after a speeding truck ran over them in Kabuganj area in Cachar district of the state on Wednesday, October 16.
Based on reports, the truck was loaded and was heading to Mizoram.
The deceased have been identified as Pinki Paul and her daughter, Tania Paul. The duo were going to school when the incident took place.

Following the unfortunate incident, locals in the area immediately stopped the truck (registration number NL-01-AB-3211) and blocked NH-54. They also set ablaze another truck with registration number MZ-01-S-3032.
The district management has announced that ex-gratia will be provided to the family of the deceased.
