Iyasin, a ninth-grade student, was attacked following a dispute that took place a few days earlier over a goat belonging to his father, Gazir Ali, which had strayed into a neighbouring farm.
The altercation began when Gazir Ali confronted the farm owner, Alam Ali, regarding the goat. Although it initially appeared resolved, the situation escalated later that evening. Iyasin was ambushed by Alam Ali and several other individuals while outside.
The confrontation quickly turned violent, drawing a crowd that included members of Iyasin’s family. In the ensuing chaos, multiple family members were injured, including Iyasin. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital and subsequently transferred to Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital in Barpeta, Iyasin's injuries proved fatal. He died on July 28, despite medical efforts.
Talking to GPlus, the Superintendent of Police, Bongaigaon said, “A preliminary FIR has been lodged and we are investigating the matter, but it was not a case of mob-lynching as many are alleging.”
Further details are awaited.
