GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal chaired a Cabinet meeting at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati on Monday, June 3.
In the meeting, the Cabinet decided to reduce the minimum age for the appointment of Gaon Burhas from 35 to 25 years. Further, it was decided that any person having more than 2 children will not be eligible to apply for the post of Gaon Burha.

Among other decisions taken during the meeting are - provision for eviction of encroachers from Satra land in the Assam Land & Revenue Regulation, 1886, introduction of an Act to regulate placement agencies to check human trafficking and increase in the honorarium of Autonomous Council Members from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 25,000 & of CEMs from Rs. 16,000 to Rs. 45,000.
