Assam Man Transferred To Mental Hospital After Allegedly Caught Consuming Raw Cat Flesh In Kerala

GUWAHATI: A man reportedly from Assam was transferred to a mental hospital after he was allegedly caught eating raw flesh of cat at the Kuttipuram bus stand in Malappuram, Kerala.

Local residents stumbled upon the distressing scene on February 3 and promptly alerted the police. The individual has been identified as 27-year-old Debojit Roy, originally from Dhubri in Assam. Responding to the situation, the police provided immediate assistance to Roy, offering him food after discovering his dire state, media reports stated.

As per media reports, the police stated that Roy devoured the provided food hastily, revealing that he had not consumed any sustenance for the past couple of days.

A senior police officer told media that the man had left his home state two years ago, eventually making his way to Kerala. Further investigation led the police to contact Roy's brother in Chennai, who disclosed that Roy had gone missing a few years back and is known to be mentally ill.

Expressing concern for Roy's well-being, the police took him to the Kozhikode mental hospital for necessary evaluation and care.
