Assam: Man Succumbs to COVID-19, Wife Dies 4 Days Later in JMCH

GUWAHATI: In an unfortunate incident, an elderly couple from Jorhat district of Assam succumbed to COVID-19. The husband was the first to die of the viral disease and four days later, his wife died of the same cause.

Aram Begum (73) died on August 1, four days after her husband Dr. Hussain’s death in Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH) in Assam.

According to reports, 85-year-old Dr. SAW Hussain of Raja Maidam locality of Jorhat had to be rushed to Jorhat Medical College & Hospital on July 28 after he tested positive, although he was shifted to the ICU. The octogenarian physician breathed his last around 9 PM the same night.

What made matters worse, adding to the tragedy, was when Dr Hussain’s wife – 73-year-old Aram Begum – also developed complications after testing COVID-19 positive she had to be admitted to the same bed in the ICU of JMCH where her husband had lost the and she also breathed her last on August 1.

Meanwhile the deceased couple’s son and daughter-in-law are also fighting the virus, in the same hospital where their parents succumbed to the illness.
