Assam Lad Wins Bronze in International Arm Wrestling Championship In Vietnam

GUWAHATI: Manoj Debnath from Dibrugarh, Assam has won a bronze medal in the 70 kg category at the Hanoi Invitational Arm Wrestling Championship, Vietnam.

The championship was held in Hanoi, on July 14.

His victory came after a series of challenging matches against participants from over 12 countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Singapore, Korea, and the Czech Republic. 

Debnath defeated Josh Nicholas, a renowned world youth champion from Thailand, to win the bronze.

Debnath boasts an impressive record as a nine-time National Arms Wrestling Champion and the 2022 Asian Gold Medalist in Malaysia. Also, in 2019, he secured a silver medal at the China Open World Championship.

Talking to GPlus, Debnath said, “I had a great experience competing against some of the best athletes from around the world,” he said. “I am now preparing for the upcoming World Championship in Greece this September. I will be competing in the below-63 kg senior category, and I believe this event will provide me with valuable exposure and help me perform even better.”
