GUWAHATI: Peasant Activist and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi may contest the 2021 elections from Sivasagar constituency in Upper Assam.
As per reports, the ‘Raijor Dol,’ formed by KMSS, is holding “informal talks” with the fellow regional party Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) to finalize the plans.
KMSS insiders said that Akhil Gogoi, being a member of the Ahom community that plays a decisive role in the elections in the upper Assam belt, has been the obvious choice.
"We already did an internal survey and we found that people want Akhil Gogoi to be contesting elections," KMSS Joint Secretary Mukut Deka told G Plus.
