Assam: Khel Maharan Set To Take Place From November 2023 To January 2024

 

GUWAHATI: Khel Maharan, a sporting event will be held in Assam from November 1 to January 10, 2024, to ignite the spirit of sports, competition and unity across the state.

Khel Maharan is expected to draw the participation of approximately 50 lakh sports enthusiasts from various corners of Assam. This will encompass athletes of all ages, including young talents, seasoned veterans, and senior sportsmen. The event will see active involvement from state sports associations, local youth clubs, and experienced athletes.

The competition will unfold in four stages, namely Gram Panchayat Or Municipal Level, Assembly Constituency Level, District Level, and State Level. At the state level, the event will be hosted at six locations, including Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur, Kokrajhar, Silchar, and Diphu.

Khel Maharan will feature a diverse array of sports like Athletics(100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, and 800 meters/1500 meters), Football, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Kho-Kho.

The competition categories include Under-19 (male and female) across all sporting disciplines. The theme song is set to be sung by Zubeen Garg with the mascot of the sporting event being named as Dodan after Raja Dodan, a brave warrior.
