Assam: Kaziranga National Park Reopening, Only Jeep Safari to be Allowed

GUWAHATI: The Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve is set to reopen for tourists from Wednesday, October 21 onwards, after 8 months of being shut due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


The reopening ceremony has been scheduled at 11 AM on Wednesday with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal as the chief guest for the ceremony.


However, due to the inclement weather and road condition inside the National Park, only Jeep Safari at Kaziranga range, Kohora and Western Range, Bagori would be open for tourists.


Elephant ride in Kaziranga National Park will not be allowed for tourists until further notification by the authorities.


"Jeep Safari in Kaziranga Range, Kohora will be open up to 'Vaishamari' and in Bagori will be open up to 'Donga Watch Tower' and 'Bimoli Tiniali' until further orders," states a notice issued by the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve.


The date for opening of Eastern range, Agoratoli, Burapahar range, Ghorakati haven't yet been notified.
