GUWAHATI: A video of a young girl being brutally hammered to death with an axe has been circulated across social media platforms, especially as a Whatsapp forward message, claiming to be the murder incident of a nursing student from Barpeta, Assam in Bangalore.
However, the video is reportedly from Brazil and not from India.
The same video had circulated a few months back as well, claiming to be from India. On 9th September, 2020, The Quint had reported the same video as fake.
After the brutal rape and murder of a B.Sc Nursing student was reported in Bangalore, the victim hailing from Howly area of Barpeta district, the same video resurfaced claiming to be live recording of the incident.
The 19-year old was murdered in Bangalore on 16th December. One Anisur Rahman has been identified as the prime accused and arrested in connection with the same.
