GUWAHATI: A road accident occurred at Athabari in Kamarbandha, Golaghat district, Assam, during Durga Puja celebrations on the night of October 9.

The incident at around 10 PM involved a high-speed bike crashing into an SUV, resulting in two young men being thrown off their bike. Video footage reportedly captured the moment when the SUV attempted a U-turn, just as the speeding bike struck it from the side, causing both the rider and the pillion to be flung off the vehicle.
The injured bikers were immediately rushed to Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH) with severe injuries such as fractures.
Talking to GPlus, a police official from Kamarbandha Outpost said, “We suspect it to be a case of hit and run and we have not been able to track or apprehend the SUV driver. But, investigations are still underway.”
Following the accident, the SUV driver fled the scene. The police have launched an investigation and are actively searching for the vehicle and the driver.
