GUWAHATI: Under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation Programme (SVEEP), the flagship programme of ECI for voter education, Assam’s Chief Election Officer has selected Hima Das among others in Assam to lead the programme ahead of Lok Sabha (LS) Polls.
Apart from Hima Das, Golap Rabha, environmentalist Purnima Devi Barman, singer Tarali Sharma, world youth boxing champion Ankushita Boro and actor Kapil Bora will relay the message of voting to the public of Assam.
Speaking to media, Assam's Chief Election Officer, M.C. Sahu said that these personalities will act as ‘state icons’. Since they have some respectability among the public, the EC will try to send encouraging messages regarding how to vote, how to get names enrolled, etc.
The activity will be done via banners, posters and also by shooting audio and videos.
