GUWAHATI: In an unfortunate incident, two school students lost their lives in a major road accident that took place in Assam’s Nagaon district on Wednesday morning, October 16.
According to reports, a Guwahati-bound bus of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) knocked down two girl students while they were going to school while riding on their bicycles.
The two deceased have been identified as Rabija Khatun and Farida Khatun. Both of them hail from Amoni area of Nagaon district. Three other people were also seriously injured in the accident.
Reportedly, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid an accident with a speeding bike.
Meanwhile, locals blocked National Highway (NH) 37 in anger and severely protested against the incident.
