Government of Assam will set up a Non-profit Foundation for cancer research and treatment in collaboration with Tata Trust.
"It will be called Assam Cancer Care Foundation" announce Himanta Biswa Sarma in a press meet in Guwahati.
The foundation will be set up with a 50-50 partnership of Government of Assam and Tata Trust. The foundation will have 6 trustees, 3 from each Assam Govt and Tata Trust.
Speaking about the focus on cancer treatment in the state, the minister said, "It is important for Govt of Assam to detect cancer cases at an early stage and provide proper treatment." He added that 70% patients face mortality because of lack of treatment or late diagnosis.
