GUWAHATI: The Assam government has announced financial assistance of ₹300 per month for six months to all Class 10 students to help them afford tuition and improve their academic performance.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement on April 1 during an event.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), CM Sarma wrote, "For all my Bhagins in Class 10, Soon we will credit ₹300/ month for 6 months to matriculation candidates from poor families so that they can take tuitions and perform better in their exams." He tweeted this along with a video of the announcement.

The Assam government has also launched its biggest entrepreneurship support initiative, the 'Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan', aiming to benefit 30 lakh women by providing financial assistance for self-employment opportunities. Himanta Biswa Sarma, while unveiling the scheme, highlighted Assam’s multi-layered strategy to uplift "Nari Shakti" at every stage of life—from free schooling and livelihood support to old-age pensions and free food grains. Under the scheme, eligible women will receive:- ₹10,000 seed capital in the first year- ₹25,000 in the second year (₹12,500 as a loan and ₹12,500 as government support) upon meaningful usage of the initial funds- ₹50,000 in the third stage
