Assam Govt. to observe Sadbhavana Diwas on 19th August

The Government of Assam is likely to observe the Sadbhavana Diwas on 19th August 2016. The theme of Sadbhavana Diwas is to promote National Integration and Communal Harmony among people of all religions, language and regions. To avoid violence and to promote goodwill amongst the people are the ideas behind the observance of the Diwas. To promote it further, the fortnight, beginning from 19th August to 3rd September will be observed as Communal Harmony fortnight. A pledge administering programme in all offices and organisations involving all employees would be held at 11 AM, on 19th August. The Pledge reads as, “I take this solemn pledge that I will work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, region, religion or language. I further pledge that I shall resolve all differences among us through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence”. The details of the programme of Communal Harmony fortnight are a follows: A cultural programme with the theme of communal harmony would be held at Sankardev Kalakhetra on 19th August. Also, pledge taking ceremony is proposed to be held on the same day, across all Districts of the State. On 26th August, Sports events to be organised throughout the districts. Health camps to be organized by Department of Health and Family Welfare on 30th August. Cultural programmes on Communal Harmony to be organized on 2nd September. Distribution of economic assets to be organized by Panchayat and Rural Development on 3rd September.
