This decision follows reports of non-compliance with the Clinical Establishment Act, 2010, adopted in Assam in 2015, and with rules implemented in 2016. According to the Act, all health institutions, regardless of size or type, must be registered.
However, the State authorities have noted that several establishments have shown indifference towards complying with these regulations.
To address these issues, Block PHC in-charges have been directed to identify unregistered establishments and ensure that facilities lacking proper documentation and infrastructure are reported. Public assistance has also been sought, with citizens encouraged to report unregistered institutions to the respective authorities.
In an earlier meeting with the District Commissioner on November 5, authorities had already taken the decision to initiate strict action against institutions operating without registration. Additionally, legal measures will be initiated against facilities employing government doctors and staff in violation of state directives.
