To enhance seamless travel, the government will explore a water metro service from Fancy Bazar to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI Airport). Under this plan, passengers will be able to check in at the Fancy Bazar IWT Jetty and travel to the new terminal of the airport via water transport, reducing road congestion and improving connectivity.

Additionally, the government is considering a ropeway system from Khanapara to the airport. This high-capacity aerial tramway or cable car system will facilitate smooth and efficient transport for travelers.

Meanwhile, two FRP (Fiber-Reinforced Plastic) Catamarans have been procured and will soon be introduced for city ferry services. To strengthen the existing river transport network, the Inland Water Transport (IWT) department is undertaking modernisation efforts, including upgrading ferry terminals, improving vessels, and enhancing passenger safety measures.
