Assam Govt Launches WhatsApp Number to Help those Stranded Outside State

GUWAHATI: State health and family welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on April 10 said that the state government would provide assistance to those patients from Assam who had gone outside the state for treatment and are stranded. 

He said that there are 150 such patients in Mumbai’s Assam Bhawan.

“6901281862- contact this number for all cancer patients, kidney transplant patients and those suffering from heart disease stranded outside the state. They can contact this number for assistance, ” said Sarma adding that only those people who had gone for kidney transplant, heart operation and similar surgeries and were stranded outside with lack of money or place to stay in, may contact the authorities via whatsapp on this number.

“Send your bank account number with IFSC code or photo of the first page of passbook,” said the minister.

Further a landline number (0361-2558955) has also been launched. 

Sarma said that those stuck can call on the landline number, give their details, an operator will then approve or disapprove after checking credentials. If the operator approves, then people can provide bank details on whatsapp number.
