Assam Govt Issues Guidelines for Chhath Puja Celebration

GUWAHATI: The Assam government on November 16, Monday, issued guidelines for the celebration of Chhath Puja across the state. 


“In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, suitable precautions are to be taken by all concerned including organisers, devotees etc. during the forthcoming Chhath Puja celebrations to contain spread of infections in the State of Assam,” states the order issued by the government.


Wearing of face masks and adequate social distancing has been made mandatory. 


Children below 10 years and adults above 65 years have been urged and encouraged to be at home only. 


In case, any person is found to be symptomatic, the organizers have been advised to ask him/ her to get tested for COVID-19 at the nearest screening centre. 


All Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police have been asked by the Assam government to maintain strict vigil so that COVID-19 protocols are adhered to.
