Assam Govt Fixes Onion, Potato Rates

GUWAHATI: Assam's food & civil supplies minister, Phani Bhusan Choudhury, fixed the price of onion and potato on July 3. 

Going forward, as soon as the lockdown is eased, the wholesale price of potato and onion would be Rs. 24 and Rs. 23 respectively while the retail price of both the items has been fixed at maximum Rs. 30.

The minister further stated that the department would act strictly against any trader who would violate the norms in selling onion and potato at a higher rate.

Earlier, just before the lockdown the prices of vegetables witnessed a massive surge due to panic buying.
