Assam Govt Collects Record Rs 831 Cr as GST in November

GUWAHATI: Assam government has set a record in its GST collections for the month of November, by collecting a whopping Rs 831 crore in a month.

Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to his twitter handle and wrote, “I feel immensely proud in sharing with you that we have made a record of sorts in our #GST collections  in November 2019 ~ A whopping Re 831 crore (SGST Re 375 cr, IGST Re 456 cr) was collected as GST revenues, highest since July 2017. Thank you all.”

It is to be mentioned that, the GST collection dropped 5.29 per cent to Rs 95,380 crore in the month of October 2019, on year-on-year basis.

The drop was seen despite October being a festive season. Though the government announced a slew of measures to boost the economy, however, the lower GST collection in October shows a weaker consumer demand due to an overall economic slowdown.
